Question by gOING gREY gAGGLES: How has your love for others made you a better person?
Some people can pick and choose who they love; they seek a balance or a rewarding experience for both paties.
Some people appear to express agape; they try to love everybody in some way, though that’s often impossible.
Some people are narcissistic; they cannot love anyone as much as they love themselves.

In what way(s) has your love for others (or lack of it) given you a sense of self-worth?

My love for others has helped me get through life. I can’t hate people for some reason. I just wasn’t made to hate them I guess. It helps me get through life letting people know I love them and care. I don’t think it is impossible to love everyone in some way. I’m pretty sure I can love everyone in some way.

My dad which has never been there for him I love him more than ever, because I found out that my mother kept me away from him which I love her as well, because she raised me right. She has taken my daughter from me, but I still love her. Okay if you knew every person in my life you could ask me why I love every one of them.

Question by MJS: What are some “love songs”, where the lyrics are appropriate to a newborn, baby, child, motherhood/fatherhood?
I’m interested in knowing your favorite recommended “love songs”, but where the lyrics could easily apply to a baby/child/ or motherhood, fatherhood, or parenthood?

We’re interested in ALL GENRES, (however with “country”, we tend toward “old time” or traditional artists such as Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline etc.)

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Question by Craig T: How can you love yourself without being narcissistic?
I’m not sure it really makes sense to love yourself. I understand love more as something you have for other people. I can say I like myself well enough, but self-love sounds like egotism to me, and that’s in direct opposition to love(as I see it anyway). It also seems to require some degree of objectivity to be legitimate, and you can’t really have that seeing as there’s an inherent bias.

You don’t need to love yourself to know that you are worthy of love, do you?

Well, I guess it’s about having respect and appreciation for yourself body, mind, and soul. That isn’t narcissistic, as long as you offer the same things to others and don’t exalt your self-worth because of having that self-respect and appreciation. I’m not sure about the second question.

Question by : What’s the difference between being in love and loving someone, and which should be a relationship love?
I have been told I don’t love my boyfriend that I’m only in love with him. When I checked it out, being in love with someone is stronger emotionally than simply loving someone. My boyfriend is convinced he feels I show him no love yet he refuses to tell me why, but I do feel deep love for him. So I’m confused, what is the “right” love? What’s the difference between loving and being in love?

Question by : What does love mean to you? What are the different sides to love?
I am trying to do some deep thinking for a project. I would just like to know from other people what love means to them and what are the different sides to love. I am not just talking about love between humans, maybe love for education or something else. What does it mean to you?

Love between humans:

-Boyfriend & Girlfriend (romantic-kind-of-love): there is a feeling in the world that becomes apparent to two people when they meet, fall in love, and are destined to spend the rest of their lives together. I don’t know if there’s a technical/scientific name for such a feeling, but I do know that since I’ve been experiencing it for the past two years, it’s become one of the best feelings in the world I’ve ever had. The knowledge that I have literally found the other half to my soul (as cheesy and cliche as that is, it’s true) is at the same time mind-blowing, exciting, jaw-dropping. It makes me smile when I think about it, and how lucky I am.

-Family (mother, father, siblings, etc.): I love my family immensely. They’re supportive, caring, understanding, and generous. I know that no matter what happens in the future, I can go to them and be wrapped up in a protective embrace that will shield me from any and all harm in the real world. They’re my guards, if you will.

Love for something else:

-Books: My collection of books is small, but it’s growing. I love the feeling that you get when you sit on a comfy couch on a rainy day and simply escape to a written world. It’s such a feeling of freedom, to allow your mind to do all the things that you physically may not be able to.

-Writing: Like books, I enjoy writing stories that become more personal to me than anyone else who may ever read them, and that also moves my imagination. I love being able to convey so many things through simple words. And I love the connection that happens between a reader and an author.

In the end (and I’m sorry for such a long reply; I wanted to try and be specific as I can for you to analyze and because I was curious as to what I truly thought of this question) love is a many-splendored thing. It’s a truly special feeling, though we might say it and mean it and think it everyday, we know when we do truly mean it versus not. And that difference makes it so special.

Good luck. :)
